Getting Away across the UK by Hightown Writers - - Lady of the Lake by John and Val Pedrick

Derwent Water - pic. Visit Keswick

(instrumental)

sun and clouds race fell-side slopes, where

dry-stone walls fold dreams and hopes, waves

whisper breathless sighs, across calm waters

on the shore a minstrel played, as

lakeside landscapes his love made, warm

hearts melted fell-top snows, that day, with laughter

On Derwent Water, where memories run deep

young lovers made a vow,

one day, that vow they’d keep -

to come back …

On Derwent Water, one fine summer’s day,

the Lady of the Lake, is waiting for her minstrel love, to play …

but life’s storms and sea-change years, have

washed away love’s colours, with tears, leaving

rainbowed prisms of those, once-familiar faces

broken hearts lie fathoms deep, where

lake and fells their secrets keep, with

past lovers dreaming of, lost times and places

On Derwent Water, where memories run deep

young lovers made a vow,

one day, that vow they’d keep -

to come back …

On Derwent Water, one fine summer’s day,

the Lady of the Lake, is waiting for her minstrel love, to play …

(instrumental   -    then vocal repeat of 1st verse, finish with notes ‘on Derwent Water’)

(music by John Pedrick & words by Val Pedrick  2011 / 2015)
