Desire – a 27th June HTW writing exercise – by Elizabeth Obadina

Desires Shared on Arley Bridge                                                       credit Elizabeth Obadina

Dusk draws near and the sun sinks low

The clink of ice and the whisky’s warm glow.

Ever drawn out to crowds promenading ‘neath flick’ring lamp light

Loving being sucked into the deep, dark velvet night.

Slipping on silk which caresses bare skin

Will this be the night when true loving begins?

Independence, however, is a woman’s true desire

And to hear a man apologise when he’s stoked her wild ire.

Rubies and diamonds and silver and pearls

Jewels desired by mothers to pass down to their girls.

Everything desired counts for naught at the end

Except for love that lives on from our family and friends.

Very vivid words and emotions -very impressive because it was off the cuff on Tuesday night! Love the bit about silk 🙂

Hope everyone else shares their 'workshop' creations. They were great. It's amazing what people come up with once they get over the 'no-way can I do this' barrier!

Yes, a nice off-the-cuff acrostic poem; it's good to see that section being revisited!

Beautifully written Liz and very clever to create it in such a short time. It is romantic and sensuous and yet it claims the rights of women to be valued and to be equal. A lovely piece of writing.
