 snagged flurries

veil an old pear tree

with the suffocating

shroud of a final winter

ebony talons

rake brooking skies

search for borrowed blue

scraps of summer

gnarled digits

knuckle ivory drifts

clutch golden goblets

of mulled memories

frosted branches phantom

sprigged spring blossom

through snow’s coverlet

gilded promises gleam

Winter Aconites

brighten dark days

their glowing lanterns

herald new beginnings
