Bit of a Natter by Elaine Pearson

My, you’re a sight for sore eyes

It’s lovely to see your smile

I’d almost forgotten what you look like

Are you coming in for a while?

Shall I put kettle on for a cuppa?

Glass of wine? Or even better

Now, I want to hear all your gossip

All of it, down to the letter

How’s your family? And your neighbours?

And what about next-door’s cat?

And your knees, and your swollen ankles

Oh, are they really as bad as all that?

Oh it’s lovely to have a natter

Oh crikey, is that the time?

I have to be getting me dinner on

And cut short this little rhyme

It has been good to see you

And I’m sorry you have to go

I’ll look forward to the next time

When you call to say ‘Hello’

I know this poem is set at home, but I feel like I'm eavesdropping at a coffee shop! One of those nosey writer's tricks 🤣
