Autumn Glow at Kingslow by Sue Akande

 Summer colour fades,

Now other plants start to shine.

Autumn takes over.

Rose pink Sedums star,

White blooms form on Fatsia,

Mauve Michaelmas beam.

Amber to scarlet,

Sumac gives a stunning show,

Its fiery leaves glow.

Well, for some reason, my first comment wasn't saved, so I'll try again!

I like the way that this haiku draws the reader's attention to the shift from summer to autumn by describing plants that change at this time of year. Poetic and informative. The homework task has resulted in the blossoming of our haiku section!

It is interesting how autumn colours take over and in some ways are more spectacular than summer shades. The sumac tree has the most brilliant autumn colour hasn't it?
