CRISIS, BUT NOT JUST AT CHRISTMAS
DECEMBER 2013
There’s going to be a
bedroom tax
To keep the spending
down,
Too much is spent on
welfare,
The money must go
round.
When life should be
improving
In homes where kids
have flown
If you’ve an extra bedroom
It will cost to keep
your home.
Two bedrooms are too
many
For a family of two,
If mum-in-law decides
to stay,
Then she can kip with
you.
Life should be getting
better
In our green and
pleasant land,
But our poor are
squeezed in boxes
Where there’s barely
room to stand.
There are acres of
green spaces,
For those who have the
means,
But if you’re on low
income,
Green space is in your
dreams.
A wealth tax was
suggested,
On mansions large and
grand,
Politicians didn’t like
it,
They dismissed it out
of hand.
It’s universal credit
soon,
But how to pay the
rent?
And Benefit for Council
Tax
Is capped before it’s
sent.
Our children are our
future,
But how will they be
fed?
When welfare stops, no
jobs around,
There’ll be no light ahead.
And now we have the
answer,
The Money Shop’s in
town,
Borrow now, pay later,
But debt will bring you
down.
,
Fine meals and holidays
are yours,
Please sign your name
just here,
They’ll lend you money,
pay the rent
But it will cost you dear.
An equal distribution,
Will solve our
countries ills
Don’t drive the poor to
Pay Day loans
To pay the unpaid
bills.
Make the system fairer,
Don’t penalise the
poor,
Tax the Bankers, tax
the rich

Oh absolutely, love the poem, love the sentiment
Thank you Ann, I was a district councillor on Epping Forest District (Conservative controlled) and was on the housing committee. I witnessed quite a few cases of individuals/families in miserable situations.
