Five, Five, Five by Fiona Carstairs

credit: Gencraft AI

A poem I am set to write taken from a book I choose

Go to chapter five, paragraph five, five lines down and five words in…Really? Is this something I can use?

Well here goes!

The book is written by  Harriet Lane

The Title ‘Her’ the fifth paragraph is

‘I rub moisturiser into my face’

Do I run with this or pretend I’ve never seen this book?

Look for another- a more congenial 555?

Let’s see? another paragraph in another book,

That reminds me of  a Musical I‘ve seen live

‘Another suitcase in another hall’

Get a grip! look for your 555 in another book

Which one, what, where?

Yes we know ‘Sound of Music’

No silly it’s “Maria – from Romeo and Juliet –

Almost but with singing –

Ah! it’s ‘West Side Story’ ‘Maria’

Yes! Yes! take a chair and reach

Up to the top shelf

Here is ‘On the Beach’

Or

‘War and Peace’ – No!  not this

There is too much talk of war

And peace is a risquè word

In Bernard Manning’s repertoire

Oh I give up I am off to bed … Forget the chase

I wash, clean my teeth, brush my hair

And before I turn in

‘I rub moisturiser into my face’ !

So clever! Love it! Choosing the book is so often the most difficult bit of this task!

Love the way this makes light hearted fun of the challenge!

I love this too Fiona, I’ve done this exercise twice before and fully enjoyed it but not before settling on the 2nd or 3rd book from the shelf. I find it a perfect way to begin a story. Having said that I haven’t done the homework this time, I’m still catching up with ‘Light’ and haven’t finished that yet!
